Announcing Luci Jean Arbon!
Luci was born on September 1st, only 4 days after her August 28th due date. She weighed 8lbs and was 20 inches tall, which was a surprise since I wasn't nearly as big with Luci as I was with Chloe, she was just somehow tucked far inside me and didn't poke out as much as Chloe did! She is such a good baby, just like how her sisters were and just goes with the flow. I hate to brag, but she only wakes up once at night to feed and then sleeps the rest of the night away, I can't complain. I always wanted to have a baby during the day time, since the other girls were born at night and Luci delivered! She was born at 12:36pm on Thursday afternoon, so fun! The hospital was great, the nurses were very nice except for the awkward one we got the afternoon we were getting ready to be discharged. Oh well. This was the easiest labor and delivery I have experienced so I was very grateful.
I'm also very happy I did not have to be induced. I was scheduled to be induced that Friday, the 2nd. I did everything in my power to avoid that! My mom came out about a week before, hoping that Luci would come early. We walked all over La Grande! I made a visit to our Chiropractor to get a special "pregnancy pop", and drank more jars of raspberry leaf tea than I can count. I also ate spice food and tried other measures, anything to encourage Luci to come. Wednesday night I started having regular contractions (which was new to me, even though this was my third pregnancy) and so Kent and I drove the 2 minutes to the hospital up the street, was admitted and things just went from there.
They broke my water in the middle of the night and I started pushing around 12:15pm the next day. Within 15 minutes Luci was born, so easy!!! With both Eden and Chloe, I pushed over an hour, so I was thrilled. Between contractions and pushing we all joked and laughed and had a fun time. I love my doctor. I love the lady that gave me my epidural. She had that thing in there withing a few minutes and it was working soon after. I really can't complain. I'm not the person to enjoy experiencing pain, and I am grateful for modern medicine and how we can receive pain alleviating medicine. It made for a wonderful birthing experience which really is what we all want in the end, along with a healthy baby. I would do it all over again, we will someday.
This recovery has been the easiest also. Everything has been going great.
Her sisters love her so much and every morning run into our room to see if "baby Luci" is awake so that they can cuddle her. Luci knows her sisters already, besides she had 9+ months to hear them scream, fight, laugh and cry at each other. Those sounds are comforting to her, ha! At least I don't have to worry if they do this when she's sleeping, Luci just keeps on sleeping. She also has a love for the vacuum, probably because I did that so much also when I was pregnant with her.
We are all doing great and adjusting well. Kent has 4-5 weeks off, so he's been a great help to have and it's been fun having him around. We both agree that somehow we need to inherit lots of money so that he doesn't have to go to work and we can all be together all the time. If you have any ideas, let us know.
Well I'm off to feed a cute baby. More pictures to come!
